Beginner
w/ Touch of Choreography -Monday
Looking for a new
and different type of workout? Belly dancing is now a popular trend in
exercise! In this class you’ll get a total body workout. You’ll raise
your heart rate, burn fat, and tone your muscles. Combine movements and
combinations to dance away your worries! We believe that a workout
should be fun! Please wear comfortable clothing that allows for ease of
movement. No previous dance experience ~ of any kind~ required.
This class will cover 45 minutes of basic bellydance technique and 15
minutes of choreography where we will put the moves together in very
simple 8 and 16 count combinations to help the moves "stick" in your
brain and body. The
song we will use is "Drum Solo #1- From BellyDance For Fortune and
Fame" (Music available for purchase for students that wish to practice
at home or show off what you've learned to your friends and family)
$36.00
for Entire Session or $15.00 Drop-in - This Session Meets for 3 weeks
this month due to Memorial Day Holiday (normal session is 4 weeks).
The Building Blocks-Basics
In this class,
students will be introduced to the building blocks of belly dance. The
topics in this class are what I consider to be the most important for
any beginning student to know, and what I consider any intermediate and
above dancer to strive to perfect. No matter the style, the basics are
the basics. As an artist, dancers must have a strong grasp on these
building blocks to create your own artistic voice. This class will help
you grow as a dancer, no matter your style. Each class will explore a
specific concept integral to your foundation as a dancer. Drop-ins are
welcome, but the committed dancer will come out of this class as a new
woman!
Intermediate Technqiue and Layering: In this class, I will
focus on topics not only specific topics of the dance, but also the
culture that surrounds it. I believe that musicality and music theory
are absolutely integral to the complete dancer. Each class will explore
a unique topic not to be missed, complete with combinations to
reinforce the day’s topic. In addition to music, we will explore
folkloric styling, advanced layering (including my signature shimmy
layering), and approaches to improvisation and choreography. Drop-ins
are welcome, but the committed dancer will come out of this class as a
new woman!
When we lovers
of bellydance have more knowledge, we are able to
appreciate it more and present from a base of greater
authenticity, whether we are dancing folkloric, cabaret
or a fusion style.
Are you ready to
transition from beginner/hobbyist to a more serious
dancer, then enroll in R.A.K.S.
Whether your goal is to improve on
technique, Improv, facial expression, stage presence,
accents, appearance (overall - makeup,
clothing...etc...) , this 26 week 2 semester program is
for you.
Shashkin
Students
should have mastered basic bellydance movements and should also have a
basic understanding of the tribal fusion movements and posture:This
choreography requires a lot of flexibility as it incorporates
floorwork. Students must also be able to execute most of these
movements on various level changes. (demi-plie ; plie releve; releve;
demi releve )
Due to the demanding nature of this choreography we will spend approximately 30 minutes of each class in warm up and stretch
